We are a Family!

Rej3IZyKRCaU2wy0I1kQRgWhat are some things you are good at?

What are some things that you do for fun?

Do you ever just take a seat, look back and wonder how on earth is this my special gift God gave me? What is it good for? How am I supposed to take this gift and bless others with it? Bless my family? Bless those around me?

I believe that God put me in the place I am today, to be a center for the group of gals I am leading.

Let me explain!!!

See, Im a Stay At Home Mother, with a 3.5 year old. My husband is active duty and we are in the down hill slope of this particular tour. Man it just can’t get here quick enough, however while he has been gone I have decided to dip into my old patterns of my younger self.

Whats that your asking, well I’m not getting crazy if thats what your thinking. Instead I took on playing softball. Adult women, playing slow pitch softball.

You probably have this picture in your head of the girls that go out during the week, wearing the tall sock, short shorts, bows in the hair, we got em, but thats not what I’m  talking about.

I’m talking about ladies, women, mothers, veterans, active duty personnel, post collage athletes, teachers, coaches, sahm, business women, and every other title you can think of. We get together 2 times a month to play ball. I mean Play Ball!

I got one team member, where she is in court a lot of the time working with families and their children. She is quiet, and extremely sweet. Once she steps up to bat she places the ball and is on 1st before you can blink. Following her I have the hip young fast pitch coach. She steps up hits the ball and next thing you know your telling the batter before her, “way to girl”, because she is already in the dugout!

The batting continues like that with everyone, there may be some slower than others, but we all play a huge part of the game.  Another one of my gals, steps up, you better have your face protected or sitting on the fence! Because its going to come at you hard!!!! One gal has arms for days, another looks like a unicorn in the outfield, another picks everything hit her, another one has thighs like you never seen.  I mean the list goes on. We are a true puzzle with all the little pieces that work.

When theses gals hit the field there is nothing they can’t do, and nothing they can not overcome. They could be in new positions, or having a hard day fielding a ball, but the person next to them, behind them, or in front of them, each player will look at one another pick each other up. It could be a words of encouragement or just the look we need to see. Then the next play starts and its like nothing happened. Everything went smoothly and we are walking back into the dug out laughing, cheering, and ready to Drawsome.

I guess what I am saying is, I have another family. This is a different kind of family  though.   A family of sister, where we each can come together, release all the ugly we each faced that week or month. We talk, we laugh, we cry all together. We support each other during everything. Our family challenges, our children, our love lives, our car troubles, or money trials. We each take a step back from us, to make sure each of us are good, and on our game.

We’ve done well thus far in our adventures of softball together. We have had our Ups and WE HAVE HAD OUR DOWNS, but in the end we are not just a team, we are sisters, a softball family.

Wish us luck as we make our way to Florida, come September as we approach one of our biggest challenges yet, Womens Worlds, chasing some world series rings. Who would have thunk? Its not cheap, so say some prayers as we do our fundraising, for travel, uniforms, and any other unexpected expenses.

BEACH er BAY

Its late at night, and Im sitting on the couch with my little one. We are watching Curious George AGAIN!

I have to share, this past week was a very rough one, week one with no hubby. And my little one really tested and bushed those buttons, but my favorite day of the week was when I meet up with 2 of my girlfriends for beach day.

One brought her niece and nephew, the other brought her 8 month old.

We sat on the beach, talked our heads off, laughed, helped our friendships grow stronger, allowed our children to play and create new friendships as well.

My daughter has a huge fear of ocean. She has not wanted anything to do with it. Now mind you we weren’t technically at the beach more like the bay, but she finally started playing in the water!!!!

We started building (trying) a sandcastle, then the kite got busted out. We flew our kite for almost 30 mins running up and down the bay! It was so wonderful. Finally it got super hot, we wanted to cool off, I walked in the water, and she came running behind me. Jumping, splashing, wanting to search for shells! Such a fabulous day!

So I play, we all know that now. At one point in my adult younger life, I was rated pretty high. Life happens i stopped playing and I sort of feel off the grid. Now I am playing again. Ive been playing USSS. Its been a lot of fun.

Saturday, another one of my girlfriends watched my daughter while i went to a women tournament. Hot as balls 105, in Perris, CA at Big League Dreams (BLD) field. I played with some amazing women. I was able to since some real chemistry and we all had a blast! I can’t wait to get with these ladies again and just glove & smash!
